ABOUT DR. DANIELLE
"I built the care I wish my family had."
Naturopathic doctor. Wife. Mom. Teacher by trade. The woman behind The Dr. Danielle Difference, and the story behind why this work exists.
Why I Do This Work
And Why It's Different
It started in February 2013.
I was sitting in a heart hospital waiting room in Fort Wayne, Indiana. nursing my baby daughter, while my dad came out of a quintuple bypass surgery.
His first heart attack had been years before, at the prime of his life. He was 42. I remember the night clearly: he was remodeling our house with the Amish general contractor (who’d had his own heart attack weeks earlier). My dad had come home from his job as a law enforcement officer, still in his white undershirt and old jeans. He told my mom he just didn’t feel right. She told him to go to the emergency room, just to be sure. He was furious — not at her, but at the disruption.
I get that from him. Don’t interrupt my project.
He sat on a kitchen chair, putting his socks and shoes on, saying he didn’t know why he was going. But he went anyway.
Then the phone rang. It was him. He was being transported to Fort Wayne. He’d been given the Golden Shot. He was having a heart attack.
The years that followed blurred together, doctor appointments, medications filling the countertops, fear of foods, fear of finances, fear of the next visit.
I was a teenager growing up in the middle of that. Watching it. Forming my worldview around health, around purpose, around what I wanted to be.
I knew early on I was a teacher, that’s actually my gift. I went to Butler University, then Saint Mary-of-the-Woods for my Master of Education, then started teaching middle school English in inner-city Indianapolis. I loved that job. But I knew I couldn’t be a mom and give those students what they needed from me. So I stepped back and became a stay-at-home mom.
Meanwhile, my own body was telling its own story.
Even with all the dieting, all the workouts, all the protocols, my blood pressure kept rising, my weight wouldn’t budge. I dealt with miscarriages. Fertility issues. I learned I had Hashimoto’s, and was sent home with medication and no real explanation.
For years, I knew better. I just didn’t know how to do better.
"I knew better. I needed to do better."
So I became a naturopathic doctor.
Because if I could just help ONE person feel seen, heard, and understood, really looked at, and walk them through what their body was trying to tell them, I’d have done my job. I’d have helped one family postpone or rewrite their heredity story. I’d have given someone control of their life back.
That’s why I do this work.
I don’t want my kids, or yours, to wake up to a parent on a ventilator after a quintuple bypass.
That story doesn’t have to be the family’s story.
Not yours. Not mine. Not anymore.
how I got here
The story didn't start with a degree. It started with a question that took me twenty years to answer.
February 2013
The Waiting Room
A heart hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. My dad survives a quintuple bypass. I sit in the waiting room, nursing my daughter, and realize the same future is waiting for me if I don't change everything.
2003-2011
Teaching Years
Bachelor of Science from Butler University. Master of Education from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Inner-city middle school English in Indianapolis. I've always been a teacher first, it's actually my gift.
2012-2017
The 4-Year Delay
I knew something had to change. I tried fad diets, MLM products, pills from the doctor — nothing stuck. I knew better. I just had to learn how to do better.
2017-2018
The Turning Point
Both my OB and my endocrinologist recommended a CrossFit gym. A friend who invited me to a free class. I went. Every movement was modified for my body. Then, I scheduled a nutrition consult. Handing over control of my food was the start of getting my life back.
2019-2022
Becoming a Naturopath
Traditional Naturopathic Doctor. Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. The years of training that turned my own story into the work I now do for others.
2019
Crying in My Cheesecake
The first version of my practice. Built on what I'd learned from my own healing, and named for the moments I'd lost in food, in shame, and in not knowing better.

CARE COORDINATOR
Care That Fits Your Life, Not the Other Way Around.
You don't live in a controlled environment. You have responsibilities, schedules, stress, and people depending on you. Your health has to be built around your actual life, not perfection.
Whether you're local in Dayton or working with us virtually, we tailor your care to fit how you live, what you're navigating right now, and what you're actually ready to follow through on. Because a plan you can't sustain doesn't work.
Different lives. Different needs. But one clear, structured approach that actually works.

Real People, Real Change
A few of the reviews, messages, and DMs from the people who are getting healthier.
“I used to see my body as my enemy. In this last year I’ve begun to really be grateful for my body right where it’s at, and moving toward bringing it to a place of wholeness.”
Darlene Fleary
Wilderness of Wellness Member
“This was a total reframe. Just the statement ‘I’m a healthy person’ alone shifts the game.”
Jolene Cox
Wilderness of Wellness Member
“I am a growth-driven person but the crazy of the last 2 years has run me into the ground. These videos were exactly what I needed to flip that script and remember who I am.”
Emily Kilby
Wilderness of Wellness Member
“I love how I’m learning to listen to my body. I can identify the feeling when I’ve not had enough protein, too much sugar. I’ve always put myself last and I’m doing so much better!”
